Sesame Street: Lupita Nyong'o Loves Her Skin
Sesame Street: Lupita Nyong'o Loves Her Skin
Elmo is with his good friend, Lupita. They are talking about all the great things about their skin. For example, Elmo's skin just happens to be very ticklish...
I love my white skin
ReplyDeleteEveryone should love their skin and by loving mine it doesnt make me a
racist :3
While this is great and theres absolutely nothing but good that can come
ReplyDeletefrom this, I have to ask, where are the other races? America often seems to
think that only black and white people exist. What about all the East
Asians, Indians, South Americans, Hispanics, Middle Easterners, Native
Americans, etc? You almost never see these people on high profile race
campaigns or issues. People of other races also deal with racism and
stereotypes on a daily basis and are also left out of the western ideal of
beauty. Hell, just look at how hard people in Asia, specifically east asia
and india, try to make their skin pale because its considered beautiful. Why
dont we see anyone trying to address that issue?
Of course, I'm talking about the media as a whole, not sesame street in
particular, but this video is making its rounds on social media now so we
might as well talk about it.
why am i crying?! Is there anything Queen Lupita cannot do?!
ReplyDeleteLupita is so brilliant! :) She's also ridiculously beautiful. Am I the only
ReplyDeleteperson who thinks she has a gorgeous, melodic voice?
"FIVE HUNDRED POUNDS OF COTTON! DAY IN! DAY OUT!"
ReplyDeleteI am not saying that people of color do not need to be represented and
ReplyDeleteencouraged to love their life but by treating people differently based on
their skin color is wrong. Giving people of color special rights or
privileges to make up for other short comings only encourages the divide
from the majority and the minority. White is a color too.
I loved seeing the sparkle of pride in my girls' eyes, when I showed this
ReplyDeletevideo to them this morning. The beauty and richness of her skin is
magnified by her gracefulness, intelligence, elegance and the beautiful
spirit that radiates from within. I know that's what my daughters are
responding to. It's so lovely and refreshing to have a celebrity, in
entertainment, that I don't mind my girls emulating :). x
Skin can come in all different shades and colors. Elmo's skin just happens
ReplyDeleteto be very ticklish. Lupita's skin happens to be a beautiful brown color
I just want to lay under the rays of sunshine that illuminate from the aura
ReplyDeleteof Lupita and be blessed. Love it.
I love my dark black skin. And my big Afro. Nobody can tell me differently.
ReplyDeleteThey can try, like so many others growing up and even now in adulthood, but
their efforts are futile; I love and respect myself way to give in to that.
I implore everyone of any shade a human being could possibly have to do the
exact same.
Who knew elmo was Indian. wow.
ReplyDeleteWell I've never heard Black people have skin cancer.
ReplyDelete#LOVETHESKINYOURIN #Lupita and #Elmo
ReplyDeleteIsn't she the one with was making out with her white BF in the car?
ReplyDeleteLife is so hard as a young gorgeous super model on tv.... oh the
ReplyDeletepersecution.
aging ugly fat women everywhere cry for the tragedy of people like this
I wish I liked my skin.
ReplyDeleteWHITE PEOPLE MAY "LIKE" THEIR SKIN, BUT THE SUN DOESN'T LIKE THEIR
ReplyDeleteSKIN!!!!!! HMMM, I WONDER WHY? IS IT BECAUSE THEIR SKIN IS NOT THE ORIGINAL
SKIN? SCIENTIFICALLY AND GENETICALLY, BLACK SKIN IS THE BEST SKIN TO HAVE,
AND NOONE CAN ARGUE WITH THAT!!!!!!
I haven't watched Sesame Street since I was a toddler and I'm 24 years old
ReplyDeletenow, but this video made me tear up. Happy tears, they were definitely
happy tears. Love the skin you are all in, everyone!
Peace.
If only there were celebrities like her when I was growing up.....
ReplyDeletePpl ask why Lupita had to talk about skin for an actress at her level...
ReplyDeletelook at the comments section and u will wonder y they r so blind. This
world! Smh
I work as a cashier. I once had a little black girl and her mom come into
ReplyDeletemy line at work. The little girl begged for a Cinderella doll because she
said that it, and i quote, "has prettier skin than me" This is why we need
ladies like Lupita. Please, continue to inspire
I keep watching this video because her voice is strangely soothing? I don't
ReplyDeletereally understand but it makes me feel less stressed about life.
Her arms *_*
ReplyDeleteAre people normally highlighted like that?? Her skin is so pretty, not just
the colour but it just looks.. really healthy? smooth, no discolouration
etc etc
I'm going to taunt the masses... I'm white, I love the skin I was born
ReplyDeleteinto... I also think Lupita is beautiful.
I grew up with Sesame Street and Mr Rogers and Reading Rainbow in the late
80s early 90s (born in 1984) and I wish the kids these days were as color
blind... my childhood was and I wish it could be the same now.
I had a white girlfriend at night in bed she would compare and admire my
ReplyDeletebrown skin... Then she say "look at mine ugh I'm illuminating!" Lol.. She
was soo funny!
